About me
My name is Nicola Cocchiaro. I graduated in Computer Science at the University of Bologna, Italy. I’m interested in distributed systems and networking, game programming, operating systems, computer security, artificial intelligence and robotics, astronomy and physics, archeology and mythology, cooking, and other assorted activities. I like to read, create and learn. I also particularly like mountains and the outdoors in general.
I’ve been a Linux systems administrator at the University of Bologna, Italy, for two years and I’ve helped create and manage network services for students there. I’m also a developer of Open Source projects like the Fast Secure File System, Alpha Shooter, the Neutron Engine, FreePOPs and SteGUI.
I’ve afterwards been employed at Double Helix Games, where I worked as Game Programmer for about two years. During my stay there I worked on games like G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra for Electronic Arts, and Front Mission Evolved for Square Enix.
At the moment I’m employed at Gaikai, a technology startup that aims at bringing any game or application directly to users’ Web browsers while eliminating any pre-existing friction.
You can find a more detailed professional profile on sites like SourceForge or LinkedIn, through which I can be contacted. I also have another personal website elsewhere.
